Delphy in conjunction with Emo Society recently secured support from the Dutch Government to train Emo Staff to enable them to gain necessary skills to train farmers in the North Rift to adopt greenhouse farming as an alternative means of enhancing their disposable incomes.
The training, which runs for four weeks spread out over a period of six months, kicked off on 13th June 2017 and was facilitated by Mr. Wilkins Nyanamba of Delphy.
The staff present were taken through various topics related to the establishment of tomato greenhouses. The trainees are expected to suppervise and encourage farmers to adopt this new farming method in the region and some of them even went further to promise to establish greenhouses themselves.
In order to have a reference point for this training, Delphy is sponsoring the purchase and installation of one greenhouse at the Emo Farm in Eldoret to complement the one already put up by the ornanization.
It is expected that this initiative will have a multiplier effect in the region to the extend that it will attract other investors to partner with the organization especially on the side of value addition.
