Shareholders Meeting 2014

Enterprise Mobilization & Investments Ltd (EMO Investments) is the investment vehicle for the society and is registered as a public company, whose shares are limited and are only available to members in good standing of Emo Community Development Society (ECDS). Through this, members have the opportunity to invest in various commercial sectors such as agriculture, banking, transport, stock exchanges, among others.

EMO Investments seeks to transform the community(ies) from;

1. Peasant farming to commercialized (corporate) farming for better yield,
2. Fragmentation of land to consolidation of land to give way to corporate farming,
3. Overdependence on raw materials – farm produce to value added products of the same
4. Overdependence on the public sector to private sector.

Empowering Emo Community Development Society members economically by investing in profitable ventures to improve their living standards and the standards of the entire Community and Nation to the Glory of God.

Objectives

The broad objectives of Emo Investments are;

1. To propagate Emo’s Values and Principles By using the company’s ventures to showcase the viability of what Emo is advocating for, for example; Land Consolidation, Value addition to farm produce; Contract farming, etc.
2. To Promote investments and investment culture among Emo members by; Encouraging them to pull their resources together for investments and by encouraging them to partner with Emo Investments in various investment ventures.
3. To develop a one stop investment centre for its members by investing in different sectors of the economy through; establishment of different subsidiary companies, investment in shares and fixed income securities, and acquisitions of existing business ventures.
4. To Invest in profitable ventures that will bring economic empowerment leading to the social transformation of the community

EMO Investments has been able to mobilize members to raise funds through sale of shares which as at December 2012 stood at Kshs.205 million. This has been invested in various projects, some of which are still ongoing.

Management 

EMO Investments is run by a board of directors with its management being led by a Chief Executive Officer. In order to meet its objectives, the company will establish subsidiary companies from time to time which will be run independently.
